Health and Nutrition

In a world where the reality of sensory perception is illusion, people who appear outwardly healthy may be inwardly unhealthy, and vice-versa. Astrology can help us differentiate between true health and fitness versus merely "being buff" at any age. Signs and planets in the "6th house" of the birth chart, (not the sun sign), influence nutrition and health.

While ARIES (or Mars) builds muscles that conform to social criteria of attractive physical strength, it can lack patience to prepare nutritious meals. Its tendency to anger may turn even good food into toxins. Forgiveness gives it power.

TAURUS (or Venus) is concerned with physical beauty. Sensually self-indulgent, it may struggle with weight beacause it enjoys lavish meals. It may tend toward weak metabolism and resist exercise, though once it starts, it has endurance.

GEMINI (or Mercury) can translate nervous energy into athletics. It likes diversity in its diet. It should repeat mantras before meals to purify food and to eliminate divisive dualism in its perception.

CANCER (or the moon) associates fullness from food with emotional nurturing. It may therefore overindulge, resulting in weight gain. It benefits from conscious psychological resolution of childhood issues.

LEO (or the sun) may take dining to an extreme, eating feasts instead of mere meals. A fire sign, it has the energy to burn off calories through recreational activities. Its diet should be low-cholesterol and heart-healthy.

VIRGO is likely to be a nutritional purist, often vegetarian. But if it is judgemental, it risks constipation. Even eating "fattening" foods, its physique is often compact and lean.

LIBRA must beware of impurities affecting its kidneys. Unsweetened cranberry juice and lots of pure water should be taken daily. Noisy environments impede digestion.

SCORPIO (or Pluto) has great depth of awareness, but tends to internalize reactions. If without a sexual companion, it may sublimate its generative energies into research or transforming its diet and environment.

SAGITTARIUS (or Jupiter) may be physically expansive, but due to a natural athletic ability, can burn off its calories. Its diet may be based on religious teachings and purified by spiritual mantras and prayers.

CAPRICORN (or Saturn) needs calcium, glucosamine and chondroitin to promote bone health, cartilage regeneration, and to counteract a tendency toward osteoporosis and degenerative joint disease.

AQUARIUS (or Uranus) loves ethnic foods and medical techniques from other cultures, especially acupuncture, which adjusts the body's electromagnetic meridians.

PISCES (or Neptune) may be self-destructively indulgent in both nutrition and intoxicants. A conscious commitment to self-perpetuation over self-destruction may literally save its life.
