FEARLESSNESS

There are two kinds of fear. One is rooted in guilt. The other is rooted in vulnerability.

When a person subjugates another, often resulting in family abuse, the guilty oppressor unconsciously knows his power is stolen and fears it will be taken back. Since he cannot control himself, he tries to control others. Sometimes he even succeeds, just for a while.

When a group or even a nation exploits another, they fear the voice of intellectuals, calling them “dissidents.” Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 20 years by the racially elitist government of his birth. Now he is a retired elected president of his country.

The fear of vulnerability is found in those people who unknowingly relinquish their power of civil rights and self-determination to others.

“I Ching” Hexagram 25 says, “Innocence frees itself of mistakes, so that no misfortune of internal origin can overtake it.” Therefore, if we choose to live an impeccably honorable life, devoid of selfish private agendas, then there is no fear from guilt.

Psychology often encourages the emotional honesty of being vulnerable. But Transpersonal Psychology teaches us to rise above all that is subjective, and therefore to attain spiritual invulnerability. What glorious freedom!

Astrology holds 12 “magic wands” which everyone can use to eliminate fear, regardless of their “Sun Sign.”

ARIES is king or queen of courage, ready to fight for right.

TAURUS, once non-attached to the physical world, is as steady as a rock.

GEMINI retrains its reactive emotions with objective intellect.

CANCER can be the most vulnerable sign, until it transfers its caring to an egoless perspective.

LEO has a loving, generous, open heart, but needs to give to deserving people.

VIRGO analytically discerns who the right people are to whom to offer its services. Confucius said we should “nourish the holy and the worthy.”

LIBRA needs to maintain Dharma (propriety) in all its choices, especially relationships.

SCORPIO can keep secrets, but both kinds of fear can hide there.

SAGITTARIUS needs the inspiration and integration of spiritual discipleship.

CAPRICORN is too ready to conform to the norm, due to social pressure of its perceived peers.

AQUARIUS is the consummate humanitarian, offering all to uplift the world.

PISCES is ever the savior of the underdog, and must not make itself a victim in the process.
